Brighton Days Out

In 1990, Family Day was introduced in Alberta. But you’d not believe it that it caused some controversy in the state at the time. As a matter of fact, a lot of people were against this concept. There were several complaints saying that it is a big expense, that there were lots of holidays; believing that it is only going to cause distraction and divert people’s attention from real issues.

Years Later…

Then few decades later, Family Day spreads to 2/3 of Canada under different names like:

  • Family Day in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta
  • In Manitoba, it’s otherwise called as Louis Riel Day and;
  • In Prince Edward Island, this is referred to as Islander Day

Regardless of how people call it, the objective remains the same and it is to spend time and bond with your family.
