5 Things I Couldn’t Live Without

If you’d asked me a month ago what my daily essential items would be, I am pretty sure I would (sadly) list at least a few things from Emma’s changing bag. It had been my lifeline since she was one week old and everything I ever needed was in there. But over the past month, things have changed a bit. I started working and suddenly I’ve got a grown up handbag again and other things that I couldn’t get through the day without.

I thought I would be a bit sad to ditch our functional BabaBing bag and in ways I was. But recently I’ve come to realise that 70% of the contents of this bag, we do not need anymore and when I made the decision to clean it out, I was quite shocked to gather up its contents. I’ve been moaning for months to my other half about the lids to Emma’s bottles going missing but turns out, they were ALL in the changing bag! Ooops.

So a month into our new routine, Emma has her own little rucksack that goes on her own peg at nursery (I almost wept when I saw this as it was so cute) – there’s a new set of things I couldn’t live without…

I think coffee will always be my faithful friend. I can’t beat a really good cup of coffee in the mornings and it kick starts my day as it’s often a bit of a rush getting everything together for the nursery run. I absolutely love the Co-op Maximum Strength one, it’s really yummy!

My Blogger Journal

Back in June when I went to BritMums Live, I met a few blogger friends there and they had this Paperchase Blogger’s Journal. I wasn’t sure if I’d need one really and at the time used to just blog when the ideas came. But being at the conference inspired me to get a bit more organised. Now I am forever looking at it and popping ideas in the editorial calendar.

I couldn’t go a day without taking a few pictures, either of Emma and the boys or just pics of my food (sorry I’m that person). I love having the pictures to look back on in months to come, even if I don’t upload them to my blog or Instagram. I do have a Canon camera, which is lovely but quite bulky so a lot of the time I use my iPhone 5s.

Ever since I was a teenager I would not leave the house without headphones and I’m still much the same! My headphones have had a bit of a revival though, as I ditched them when I was with Emma…it felt wrong even when she was napping in the buggy to get out my headphones, in case I missed something. I’m loving listening to music on the train now, it really helps to just unwind and escape for a little bit.

End of the day cuddles…

It’s been a real change since I’ve gone back to work, and I miss the cuddles with Emma. In the mornings we used to have long cuddles while I woke up properly and now it’s such a different routine. So there’s nothing I like more than getting home and giving her a really big hug before we do the bath and bottle. In fact, that’s absolutely my favourite time of day.

What are your non-negotiables? Let me know in the comments 🙂

I agree with quite a few of your non-negotiables, Bridie! Especially the coffee!
I guess, sadly, a phone would be in my top 5! How times have changed.
I really should start using my headphones more…I love music but often forget to pop it on when I am in the house on my own. Thanks for sharing.

I’m wondering if I can get away with a rucksack for Moo now, or if I still have to lug the changing bag around…I quite fancy one with unicorns on which is more for my benefit than hers! Our lists are remarkably similar – I can’t be without my headphones, easy access to coffee, and my phone for pictures. I usually carry a bottle of water and a hairbrush with me though, oh and lip balm, and tissues….quite a lot actually, eek!

I will join you in coffee and end of the day cuddles. I can’t live without my camera either but my iPhone is my total nonnegotiable! Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime

What a funny place to find the bottle lids! I would agree with having a camera within easy reach. My iphone has to be number one for this purpose at the moment, after Mr Button managed to bump the proper camera. It’s now sadly out of action. Opps! #ablogginggoodtime xx

I used to carry my mummy bag around after I actually needed it! It took a friend to point it out that I probably didn’t need it anymore. How uncool! Comfort blanket! I have to say my bag now is probably just as big (if not bigger). Must haves phone, charger, notebook (glad to see you getting on with Paperchase one), banana!

Cuddles are the best! I might have to take a visit to paper chase to check out the bloggers journal. I’m not that good at planning blog posts but I do love to jot ideas down on paper rather than a screen. #fortheloveofBLOG

I rarely get cuddles now, my boys are 16 & 20, but i love them when I do.
Coffee, I have a machine next to my bed so this is the first thing I do when I wake up without a foot out of bed!
Radio 4, I am so in love with this station and have it on all day.
My phone, although sometimes wish I could go back to life before mobiles, they are great, but they are also so intrusive in our lives,
My Car, I couldn’t live without that definitely, its my freedom.
    Friends, They keep me sane!!
My boys (they probably should be at the top of this list)
A good Bra and comfy Pants (and sadly these days they don’t always match) comfort comes first
Candles, I love them, so relaxing and smell amazing

My two year old gives me the BEST cuddles. I always thought I’d miss the snuggly baby stage, but nothing beats it when your child asks you for a hug rather than you just hugging the life out of them. My non-negotiable is one afternoon a month when I get to go to the hairdresser while hubby looks after both kids (it’s hardly a hardship – they normally both nap at that time anyway!) The thing is, I have so many grey hairs (since having kids it’s worse!) that I need to go once a month to cover them up. And can you imaging trying to dye your roots yourself with two kiddies around? I dread to think! #fortheloveofBLOG

Haha I am exactly the same with Sophie’s dummies! They’re all at the bottom of the big Mama bag I’m currently hauling about. I’m back to the office next month and dreading it but this post has actually made me realise that there are some lovely things about going back to work – one of them being that I will get a piece of myself back again! I might even do my nails – woop! As always, your positivity is infectious xxx Thanks for sharing on #fortheloveofBLOG

100% agree with the cuddles and the camera! My other three would be my glasses as I now get eye strain, Routine for the children and nice bubble bath to relax once the children are in bed…
