Lately, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with our hectic life – always running around trying to get everything done. Then one day I got this spasm just above my shoulder blade…it was more than an annoyance, it was super painful and I couldn’t even lift Emma up out of her cot. I knew this was a little bit of a sign that something somewhere is out of balance.
I think as Mums we’re always rushing around getting everything done. We’re Wonder Women! But sometimes we need a bit of time to just relax and reset…so when the lovely guys at The Massage Company contacted me to see if I’d like to give one a go, I was all ears. It did involve twisting Nanny’s arm to take care of Emma for a little while and I was so pleased when she said yes!
The Massage Company are based in Camberley, Surrey and right next to the Travelodge hotel which is central to the town centre and so easy to find. It actually made me think of all those time I went on away days with work and wanted something relaxing at the end of a stressful day.. They offer deep tissue, Swedish or sports massages but the big difference is that they offer a monthly subscription, which I thought was a genius idea. You pay a monthly fee starting from only £44.95 a month and can come by any time you like. Pperfect for me, as I’m always forgetting to come back in good time and inevitably only get a massage when I’m in pain or beyond tired.
I decided to get a Swedish massage with hot stones and it was wonderful. The therapist talked through my aches and pains, understanding perfectly what being a mum means and the muscles that might be affected. I couldn’t recommend hot stone treatments enough – I had one a few years back and fell in love with it. It’s like stepping into a beautifully warm bath and also works through a lot of the tension in the muscles, my shoulders in particular were very knotted. I’ve recorded a little vlog of my day to myself so you can get a feel for the place…hope you enjoy! Disclosure: The Massage Company offered me a complimentary hot stone massage for the purpose of this review and vlog. All opinions and words are my own.
