Emma started going to toddler gymnastics a few months and absolutely loves it. It’s something we can do together, although I wasn’t sure at first if she’d like it. But before long she was climbing up on everything, if not becoming slightly obsessed with the trampoline and it was where she discovered the monkey bars. Now she gets excited every time she sees them at the park. They are way too high for her (and for me to hold her up!) so we’ve agreed on her swinging from the bars a little lower. It’s so lovely to see the concentration and happiness on her face.
Fridays are a Mummy and Emma day and since January, we’ve been making a real event of our day together. We like to visit a farm, or a new place, which I love but sometimes a lazy day is just what we need. I sometimes feel bad, but seeing Emma’s enjoyment at the park made me realise that it’s the simple things she loves. Being together is the most important thing to her.
Afterwards, we got the bus into the city, which is high on Emma’s list of favourite things too. I’m not sure what it is about being on a bus full of people of all ages. Maybe it’s the busyness of people getting on and off, and it getting crammed full of people as we approach Brighton Pier. We got off the bus in Hove, with Emma a little upset that the bus was gone “my bus my bus!” but then went to an ice cream parlour, which cheered her up instantly.
Simple things. I’m always one to cram too much into the day. But our little adventure reminded me that there are so many everyday things we can do together that are special for the fact that we’re together and celebrating the end to another hectic week.
Thats so true! I am the same I always try to do something special on our Fridays but spending time together is the most important #ordinarymoments x
Spending the day together is something you won’t get to do once she starts school, cherish these days. They’re priceless!
I think the bus is just a fun place to people watch! #DreamTeam
We haven’t done the bus yet and my toddler keeps asking to do it, must get round to that! I really like the sound of toddler gymnastics. If it would give my toddler something to climb on other than the lounge furniture, I’m all for it! X #dreamteam
I love being able to set aside days just to hang out with the baby. We have a place that does yoga for all ages and I’m dying to take him. #dreamteam
Simple is often the best. It’s the little things that stick in the memories. #dreamteam
The Popple always gets upset when we get off a bus or train too! I’m not sure why she likes riding on them so much – maybe I should just make riding buses all over the city our Friday activity! I’m home with her on Fridays too. #dreamteam
Simple things are always the best. I do love cramming things into one day though because I find that so much enjoyment has been had. 🙂 x
#dreamteam
Simple is best with little ones definitely! I suppose for them the everyday things are new. Practising skills such as swinging in the monkey bars are important to little ones. If they learn a new skill it takes many hours of practise to perfect it so trips to the park are vital. Lovely post. #Dreamteam
Sometimes it’s nice to just be isn’t it? Evie loves the park so much, it just goes to show we don’t need to do all that much to make sure they’re happy! #dreamteam
It is the little things we do with them that stay with them forever. Looks like a great time. #dreamteam
You are so right…those little moments are always the best. And who wouldn’t love getting a bus into Brighton?! x
#DreamTeam
aww it’s the little moments and being together that counts, so lovely! #DreamTeam
I loved gymnastics as a kid and if you can do it together that’s fantastic. I love my time with my little girl too. So precious. #DreamTeam
Lovely day and reminds me of my special Friday with my middle boy and we had Fridays to ourselves and always had so much fun #dreamteam
Simple days are always the best with little ones. And I wish my kid liked the bus. He often whines and makes a sense and I’m longing to get off as soon as possible! Kids are all so unique in the things they love.
Sweet post. Thank you.
#DreamTeam
Man Emma is loving the toddler dream these days!
#dreamteam
Being house bound this last few weeks has actually made me realise just how happy little ones are to just be with you and have time to play and enjoy the simple things. I’ve promised myself to keep up the less hectic pace once I’m back on my feet. The simple things really are the best sometimes. Lovely photos Bridget. Thanks for being such a fab co-host. #DreamTeam x
#dreamteam i love an over planner – you can never have too many memories. However, i have found my sons fav thing to do with me is play at home…simple pleasures 🙂
Aww yes they definitely love the simple things. I think as parents we can massively overthink things, when they’d be happy just going to the park or playing at home with a cardboard box! #dreamteam
It’s so easy to get caught up with days out and making memories that you forget that any quality time counts!
Really relatable post #dreamteam
We’ve been enjoying the simple things this Summer. Encourage Emma to go on the monkey bars – it’s great for strengthening their arms for when they start writing at school. At my daughter’s school they go on the monkey bars every day! #dreamteam
Clem absolutely loves going on the bus or train into town. She gets really excited whenever she sees a bus as well. Ice cream always makes everything better. We should meet up one day, either in a park or for ice cream. x #dreamteam
Beautiful. Utt just reminded me of my Monday’s I had off work to spend the day just me and my daughter. We use to talk all weekend about what we were going to do. Very often a coffee shop and an ice cream was involved. By November, when my wife goes back to work after maternity leave, I’ll have my daughter and my son all to myself for a day. I can’t wait. X
Simplicity is always good when making memories… they stick in the head more! #Dreamteam
As a working mom spending quality time with my girls during the week is difficult. Therefore it is so important that I set time aside on weekends to do mommy-girly things with them.#dreamteam
Great post, sounds like you had fun. I really need to take my little boy out on the Bus one day, we don’t get any time together just me and him because my day off work is his pre-school today 🙁 one day in September ive decided he will miss a day of pre-school and we’ll spend the whole day together doing fun things! #dreamteam
Ahh I think you are so right. Sometimes just the simple times spent playing at home in the sandpit give the most special memories! #DreamTeam
It’s amazing what an ice cream can do. I’m glad you got to travel on the bus even if it was busy I wish I could hold onto monkey bars #DreamTeam
Isn’t it lovely when our little ones discover new likes & hobbies #DreamTeam
Ice cream always cheers me up too! haha #dreamteam
We haven’t ventured on the bus yet (because it smells and that’s the reason I got my driving license like 7 years ago haha) but we do love ice cream and the park! #dreamteam
I love baby and I days! Although my baby is 3 now! Its great to have that time together! x
So true, sometimes the best days are the ones where you just take it easy and play things by ear. And a trip to an ice-cream parlour solves everything!
#DreamTeam
Anything you do together as a family is special, even the ordinary moments. Ice cream is the answer to many of life’s problems 😉 #DreamTeam
We’ve yet to brave the bus (just the girls that is). Little ones have little to no fear over things they are straight in there. #DreamTeam
Little things are sometimes the most important and it is good to make life simple and focus on the now #dreamteam
I promised Amelia when we moved that I’d sign her up for toddler gymnastics so I really must pull my finger out and find a local class!! #dreamteam
I’ve always loved the idea of your one day a week that’s special. Such a lovely idea. #DreamTeam
Ah this is lovely. I am having quiet day today – i had the option to go to the local dinosaur park with a friend but I’m shattered from the bank holiday so we are having a lazy morning and a quiet slow walk down to the charity shop and park and that’s it. You’re right its about spending time together. Glad she’s getting on well at gymnastics, mine loves tumble tots which we do. #DreamTeam
You’re right, sometimes it’s the apparently simple things that we end up enjoying most! #dreamteam
