This is a collaborative post with Seventh Generation
We’re now a couple of weeks into the summer holidays and I am starting to feel like there isn’t an end to my washing basket. With the two boys plus a toddler, who loves those muddy puddles, it is overflowing and quite frankly, I need a hand! If it’s not a football kit to wash, it’s a caked in mud pair of leggings and that’s even before we tackle the constant washing up in the kitchen. So when Seventh Generation asked me if we’d try out some of their eco-friendly, all natural products, I was intrigued how they’d differ from the usual brand we use.
Seventh Generation is an American brand, who have been making plant-based cleaning products for over twenty years. Ever since Emma came along, I’m much more conscious of the chemicals in the products we use around the house – so to have all natural products at our fingertips is such a peace of mind. It’s also good news that the products are that bit better for the planet and much kinder on my sensitive skin. I was sent a big hamper of products to try out and Emma has been enjoying helping me out round the house. In fact helping with washing the clothes is her favourite thing to do, though I’m not sure how long that will last!
testing out the products
In our hamper, we were given 2 types of laundry detergent, an all purpose cleaning spray, a glass & surface cleaning spray, toilet bowl cleaner and washing up liquid to try out – I couldn’t believe it was such a generous hamper. We started off with the laundry – top of our priority list. I loved that there are two types to choose from – one is called ‘free & clear’, which is perfect for us as Emma’s skin has always been sensitive. As I opened the lid, it was almost odour free but the big question is whether the liquid would clean our clothes well. It absolutely did, from the tomato stains to the mud from all that puddle jumping. The second detergent has a lovely smell of lavender and blue eucalyptus, which we are using regularly for the boys’ clothes and they come out fresh every time.
Next, I moved onto the kitchen to give it a spring clean – using the two cleaning sprays. I’ve always loved an all purpose cleaner to easily clean the kitchen and bathroom using one product, and I really liked that it was odour free as some sprays have such a strong smell. The washing up liquid was very gentle on my hands and I noticed the difference that it was made from all natural ingredients.
Overall, I was so impressed by the Seventh Generation products and would highly recommend them in an environmentally friendly home.
