My Winter Skincare Routine with Healtop

This is a collaborative post

It’s started to get really cold and I’m starting to notice that I need to take a little more care with my skincare routine. I’ve always suffered with acne prone skin and it’s particularly during the colder months that my skin starts to break out more. Though I try not to let it affect my confidence, it inevitably does – so I am always looking for new products to try out that might be what I’ve been looking for all these years.

It’s so easy to forget to look after myself at any time of the year, because life is so incredibly busy. Emma keeps me occupied round the clock, especially as she’s recently dropped her nap. There’s plenty of washing, cooking and cleaning to be done as well as making sure James has everything he needs for school too! Having a skincare routine to stick to, means that once a day I am taking care of myself without fail. It’s also given me that bit of ‘me’ time that I really need. So I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been doing, in the hope that it might help you too.

Invigorating Cleansing Products

My favourite products to use for acne prone skin are Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant or Garnier Pure Face Wash. They both leave the skin feeling tingly and fresh, which is perfect for me. One of the problems with my skin is that it is oily, yet to cold weather leaves parts dry too so it’s important that the face wash isn’t too drying. Not asking for too much then!

Skip the Toner

Quite a few years ago I got the Clinique 3 step facial routine and discovered that toner doesn’t agree with me, unfortunately. It’s far too strong and I have done much better by skipping this step to avoid any unecessary breakouts. I’m not sure if anyone else also agrees with me on this one.

Moisturise with Natural Products

Moisturising is so important for acne prone skin and I’m always drawn to natural products. I was pleased to be introduced to Healtop, a company that uses all natural ingredients such as coconut and sweet almond oil along with essential oils. One of my favourite products is their natural body cream, which can also be used on the face – as soon as you open it, you can smell the essential oils, I absolutely love it. This product also contains beeswax and has the consistency of beeswax when you touch it and I find it much more moisturising than other creams.

Drink Plenty of Water

My final step is one that I often forget – load up with lots of water! I’m not sure why but I hardly ever find myself thirsty but water helps hydrate your skin, especially in the winter when the cold weather is naturally drying your skin. I’ve bought myself a HydrateM8 plastic bottle so I can see clearly how much I am drinking and vow to myself to drink 500ml per day.

Do you have a skincare routine during the winter months? I’d love to know if you have any tips for keeping your skin healthy and hydrated in the comments below.

My skin can get so dry in the winter! A regular routine helps so much. I must remember to keep drinking water too. Great tips! Polly

I have so many things I need this time of year and I can’t be without my lip salve at the moment!

I have a couple of amazing natural products I use – I use a Hylauric Acid serum before I use my normal moisturizer and then also go to bed with Argan oil on my face which is amazing and super hydrating! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub with this lovely xoxo
