Well hello July! I seem to start every one of my round-up posts with this statement but genuinely can’t believe we’re halfway through the year. It’s been a bit of a chaotic year and I’m so enjoying having more time at home with Emma and the boys. The difference it has made to my sanity is amazing and I’m also noticing Emma grow with confidence every day. Now, there is every chance her confidence would be growing as a matter of course but being able to see her so often means the world to me.
So I thought I’d continue to do my monthly round-up as I really enjoy looking back on it. Since I’ve been working at home more, I have noticed that I need these little reminders a bit more often to keep my spirits on track. So without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to in June.
on the blog
The Bloggers’ Retreat – This one was the highlight of my month! I was invited to go on a Bloggers’ Retreat in Hampshire to unwind and spend some kiddo-free time away. There was lots of gin cocktails and so much laughter involved; I absolutely loved it. Of course we did blog talk quite a bit but I came away so inspired about what I’m doing from some seriously talented bloggers.
Brilliance in Blogging Awards – I got some amazing news this month that I am a finalist in the Brilliance in Blogging (BiBs) Awards. I was stunned to read the email that I’ve made the shortlist for Fresh Voice. What an honour to be amongst so many wonderful bloggers.
Me and Orla Instagram Course – I mentioned last month that I’ve been doing an Imstagram course. It’s all about using florals in photography and has been brilliant. If you’re ever wondering whether to do one of Sara’s courses, do it! She is such a supportive and encouraging mentor, I’m learning so much.
Sleepovers with Nanny – Another wonderful thing came out of the Bloggers’ Retreat and that was discovering that Emma loves sleepovers! It was the first time my other half and I had been away from her at all so it was relief to know how well it went. And this is very exciting news for us!
Securing work away from the blog – As soon as I tried to start freelancing on my blog, I knew that it would be wise to supplement it with other work. The good news is this month I am now helping a few businesses with their social media. Hooray!
Potty training is upon us – The time has come. Emma is pulling at her nappy and declaring her poo poo’s left right and centre. I always thought I’d wait until the signs appear and here they are staring us in the face. Wish us luck, I’m sure it’s not the last you’ll hear of it along the way.
things to look forward to
Family Birthdays – July is always birthday month in our family so we have a couple coming up. Hopefully the sun will return and we can celebrate over a BBQ and some Pimms. But who knows what the weather is going to do. I also have a very special blogger friend’s daughter’s 2nd birthday that I can’t wait to go to.
Summer Holidays – We’ll soon break for the school holidays which is always a busy time for us. So at the moment it’s all about the planning and we’re hoping to go on our first festival as a family. It’s all up in the air still but I can’t wait to see how Emma enjoys camping!
Our First Theatre Trip – I’m really looking forward to taking Emma to the local theatre next week. It’s been booked in for a while and I wonder whether she’ll sit still for it. I hope so, as the show is an exciting one and will be appearing on the blog soon.
So that rounds it up for us – our month of June was a pretty busy one but we’re excited for those summer months to begin! Hope you’ve had a good one too, would love to know what you’ve been up to in the comments below.
