This week is the start of August but looking out of my rainy window, you wouldn’t know it. We’ve got the splashsuit and raincoats out of the cupboard again. It feels kind of crazy, especially with the start of the summer holidays this month – only a few weeks ago, we were basking in the beachside sunshine! It’s been another busy month for us on all fronts I love getting to the end of the month and having a look at what we got up to in the past month.
So amidst the puddle jumping, what did we get up to in July?

Collaborations. If you follow my Instagram feed, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of quirky clothing for Emma to wear. I especially love vibrant pink and red colours as Emma looks great in them. So I was excited to be part of the Muddy Puddles ‘How Wild Is Your Child?‘ campaign and we had fun splashing in the rain!
Netflix Stream Team. My other piece of good news was that I’ve been asked to be part of the Netflix Stream Team for the next year. I knew it wouldn’t take long for me to be 100% obsessed and I’m now watching the brilliant ‘Stranger Things’ after binge watching ’13 Reasons Why’ in a couple of days.
Our Friday Challenge. At the beginning of the year, I started a Friday Challenge for myself, to try and do a few new things with Emma each week. So each Friday, we venture out to somewhere new. It’s been my way of doing new things together as well as getting to know Sussex a little too.
Family Visit. My younger brother lives in Australia and it’s always so hard to get the time to see each other. However this month, his best friend got married and he came over for two weeks. It’s been so wonderful to spend time together and for Emma to be with her aunties and uncles as well as her grandparents. Times that I’ll always treasure and such a laugh too.
Extra time with Emma. Thanks to a couple of long weekends with our family, Emma missed two days at nursery so we could enjoy the time together. It was so lovely to have an extra lazy day together and I think she enjoyed it too.
First theatre visit. I mentioned last time that we went to the theatre for the first time. Emma absolutely loved it and actually enjoyed it (I was worried she’d cry all the way through!). She’s been mentioning the hippos and giraffe she saw that day.
things to look forward to
A Little Break. As it’s the summer holidays, I’m planning to take a little breather now and then to spend time with the family. My other half is a complete star too as he’s said he’s going to give me a couple of hours off now and then so I can go around Brighton taking photos (or going to a cafe to eat cake…either or!).
Cinema Mini Club. Now that Emma has had a taste for the theatre, we thought it might be fun to take her to the Saturday cinema club they have at the Duke of York’s cinema in Brighton. It’s my favourite cinema, as a small independent one and the Saturday club is just for under-5’s. I can’t wait.
Sunshine. Can I say that? Come on sunshine…come back please!
Hope you’ve had a lovely July too – let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments and I’ll be back in a month’s time x
