I love a tag and thought the Mummy Tag is a fab idea – it’s nice for me to be able to reminisce a bit on the past year and remind myself of the wonderful moments. Thank you to Rachel Bustin for tagging me in her post – do go and check out her blog if you haven’t already!
So here goes, the answers to my questions are…..
1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?
I’m a SAHM and have been off work for 13 months. I am planning to go back to work in October when Emma is 18 months, which is when she will start nursery.
2. Would you have it any other way?
Not at all. I have to say before I was a Mum, I thought I’d want to go back to work sooner as I really loved my job. But now we’re here, I love being with her every day and watching her discover new things…now we’re onto the first word, possibly the first step, it’s all very exciting!
3. Do you co-sleep?
Emma is now sleeping in her cot, but we never co-slept. A few times she fell asleep on me but I just couldn’t nod off knowing she was right there!
4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Nuby teethers (we have about 5 scattered around the house) – she has been teething since 3 months and no signs of stopping yet! She particularly loves the necklace teether.
5. How many kids do you plan on having?
Just one. We also have a 12 year old (my step-son) so I kind of feel like I have two! But one feels just right for us.
6. Date nights? How often do you have them?
We’re so bad at date nights! We try to have them once a month but often miss a month without even realising it. We had a lovely one for my birthday and it reminded me how amazing it is to spend quality time together.
7. Your child’s favourite show?
Bing. She absolutely loves it, and giggles along when it’s on. It has the ability to complete calm her when she’s mid-tantrum which is amazing! She also loves Teletubbies and In The Night Garden too.
8. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?
The Snuzpod co-sleeper. Emma was tiny when she was born and I didn’t have the heart to put her in something so big, although we probably wasted a bit of money getting a moses basket that only lasted a few months 😉
9. Your child’s favourite food?
Mushroom Risotto and lots of cheese! In fact you could probably put cheese on anything and she’d eat it.
10. How many cars does your family have?
11. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?
I don’t think I put on too much weight during the pregnancy and at 6 weeks post-partum I had lost the baby weight due to breastfeeding. But shortly after I stopped breastfeeding and piled it on a little over the next few months!
12. Dream holiday with your kids?
I would love to go to the Caribbean with the whole family.
13. Dream holiday without your kids?
A tour of Japan, Australia and Fiji.
14. How has your life changed since having kids?
Ah it’s changed so much! I moved to Brighton from London, I now don’t work which I still find slightly odd.
15. Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”
Emma laughs. And also when Emma and her brother play together.
16. Where do you shop for your kids?
I love Next and Baby Gap for every day wear. I’ve been given some Frugi and Polarn O. Pyret clothes as presents, which I absolutely love and would definitely shop there exclusively if we could afford it. At the moment, I have a little obsession with Clarks Doodles shoes for her as they al look so cute!
17. Favourite make-up and skincare products?
Mac for make-up – that’s a love that’s lasted a life-time really. For skincare, I swear by Dermalogica as I have acne prone skin. I had it quite badly until I was 25, at which point it disappeared overnight! But I’ve kept using the same special cleansing gel which makes your skin feel all tingly and fresh. I also love the Mama Mio products, especially the Gorgeous Glow Balancing Face Wash. It really does give you a little glow, amazing stuff.
18. Huggies or Pampers?
Neither for me…I either use Aldi or Asda nappies, depending on where I’m shopping when I need to buy them. They’re both such great quality and do a fab job. In my opinion, Pampers were a little narrow for Emma’s squidgy bum.
19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yes, I always knew I wanted to be a mum, but wasn’t sure at what point of my life that would be. Meeting my other half’s stepson was a big turning point and made me realise that I would love to be a mum – and now here we are!
19. Best part of being a mum?
Seeing your baby laugh and smile, and watching them soak in everything around them for the first time. Also knowing you’re one of the things that offers them all the security and love they will ever need, makes every sleepless night and tough day worth it.
Phew, I’m done! To pass the tag on, I’m tagging the following lovely ladies…
