Last weekend, I headed to London for the BritMums 2017 conference – to meet up with bloggy friends, listen to people at the top of the blogging field and had a great day. But I was also up for the Fresh Voice award and I won!
I am still shocked to have heard my name called out, but also honoured and thrilled to have won the Brilliance in Blogging 2017 Fresh Voice award. So this is my huge thank you to everyone who voted for me, as well as those who read my posts, leave lovely comments which always make my day. Even all the incredible support I get over on Instagram – it all means so much to me.
I wasn’t expecting to win at all. I’m sure if you heard and saw my reaction on the night, this was obvious (!) with a special thank you to Laura from Dear Bear and Beany for letting me cry in her lap. The other 7 finalists in the category are bloggers that I admire and love reading; their posts make me laugh, cry and help me see the world from an angle I hadn’t before. They have all been so kind and wonderful too.

On the night, I was an emotional wreck and stumbling through very few words while my bottom lip was quivering but what I wanted to say was:
Thank You. I started blogging almost 18 months ago because I felt lost. I was already a step mum but becoming a mum too left me in a place where I didn’t even recognise myself anymore. So I started to write it down; to remember the good moments and the tough days and along the way I met some of my best friends. The support has been incredible.
To my blogging friends, Sam from Mouse Moo and Me Too, Emma from Island Living 365, Fi from Beauty Baby and Me, Laura from Five Little Doves, Laura from Dear Bear and Beany and the gorgeous DreamTeam girls: Annette from 3 Little Buttons, Dawn from Rhyming with Wine and Nic from All Things Spliced…you encourage me to tell my story and not be scared of what people might think of it. It makes me feel so lucky to have you there when I’m sometimes hovering over the publish button.
To my daughter and stepson, Emma and James – you inspire me to keep writing and to my other half who is always so proud of me and believes in everything I do, even when I don’t myself.
Thank you again to everyone who voted for my blog, and to Jen, Susanna and Nadine at BritMums for choosing me as their BiBs 2017 Fresh Voice Winner.
