Recently I’ve been enjoying watching vlogs on YouTube, in particular Aby from You Baby Me Mummy and the lovely A Moment With Franca‘s channels. I’ve loved them for a while now and have been very intrigued by the big bloggers like Zoella and Vivianna Does Make Up – I tend to start watching one, and hours later I am still there watching away.
So a couple of weeks ago, I had that thought in my head “why don’t you give it a go?” My inner monologue then goes on overdrive:
Positive Me: “yeah why not! You could do that. You should do that – you keep thinking about it, just do it woman.
Negative Me: “stop listening to that other voice, this will be totally stepping out of your comfort zone. I’m pretty sure you’ll have to be presentable to be on camera and you’ve probably forgotten you are normally in your PJ’s every day until 11am. Aghhhhh.
Stepping out of my comfort zone
This is something I don’t do as often as I should, but when I do it makes me feel amazing. This phrase means different things to different people. To me it means: doing things on my own and not feeling paranoid that people are looking at me thinking “she’s on her own!”, pushing myself to do new things however scary that may seem.
But in the last two months, I’ve embraced all aspects of my blog, learning about WordPress, widgets, plugins, codes to name just a few. To be honest, I didn’t expect to love it so much and now I’m excited to see if I can incorporate a few videos into my blog posts too. I personally love the ‘day in the life of’ posts so hopefully I can get my head round doing one of those too! So I got off my ass, but not out of my PJ’s and recorded my first vlog below. It was an unmitigated disaster haha – I dropped the camera 3 times and swore once! If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself…
So I decided to make up for it with a calm and soothing seaside video, which is much less rambly! Hopefully for future videos I can hit the mark somewhere in between the two…
What do you think?
Probably room for improvement haha 🙂 But it’s a start and if you got to the end of my 5 minute ramble about myself, well done and thank you for watching! I think it’s the first time I’ve seen myself on screen, apart from when I Skype friends and family and spend the duration of the call looking at myself (come on, we all do that don’t we?!?). Watching it back was interesting and got me thinking WOW the lines on my forehead are here to stay. Ah well! I shall keep practising the art of not waffling on and on, and will share a second much more refined blog soon! I would love to know what you think of my cameralady skills in the comments below.
