I’m not really a girly girl and never have been – I’m not one for shopping, and my other half often jokes that I shop like you’d rob a bank! I usually buy my clothes from ASOS, so I don’t have to deal with the strip lighting and heat in changing rooms, and generally speaking, I don’t wear much jewellery or accessories, or need a fancy bag to go with my outfit. I suppose I’m a bit of a tom-boy all in all! When Emma was born, our changing bag was a one stop shop for everything we would ever need. I found a Bababing one and although OH was horrified at the cost, it was a really good investment and meant that I could get Emma and I out of the house pretty speedily, even when she was tiny. I simplified everything that it was all in one place and all I had to do was replenish everything when we ran out of nappies or wipes.
I knew one day, Emma would become more of a toddler and not need this bag any longer, and recently the time arrived. It was around the same time I accepted my job, so I decided that Mummy and Emma should both have news bags and I thought I’d share with you our new attire!
Let’s start with Emma: when I take her to nursery, all I need to bring are a few nappies, wipes and a little change of clothes just in case…much more minimal that we’re used to! So I bought her this ultra cute Dotcom Gift Shop Rusty the Fox Mini Back Pack. I am absolutely in love with this brand and we have several other things from there too that have been featuring on my Instagram page. It’s so cute and I think it suits Emma’s style as I don’t tend to dress her too girly, the designs are perfect. This one is priced at £12.95 and quite small in size; I’d say it’s perfect for toddlers, but perhaps as she gets older we might need a bigger one.
Now for Mummy: now that I’ve entered the world of work, things have changed a bit. I’m trying to take my lunch into work to save the pennies as I am currently haemorrhaging money into SouthEast Trains’ pocket, as well as carrying my laptop and other bits and bobs. So it needed to be a decent size and I found this gorgeous Blake Triple Pocket Soft Shoulder Bag from Accessorize, which I love! It’s a perfect size to fit everything I need and comes with a little purse pouch for my cards too. This one is £37.00 so I treated myself but thought it was worth it and I love the tan colour too.
A few weeks with our new bags and one thing has become clear…our trusty aforementioned changing bag is no longer required and is sat unloved at the back of the kitchen. It lasted well and was just what we needed in those days when we were in and out of the house so often and I wanted everything in one place. It crept up on me sooner than I thought but Emma now doesn’t really need as many things when we go out. It’s another little sign that my baby is growing up and we’re onto the next phase now. Next stop is my very under-loved wardrobe, so watch this space!
