It’s almost time for the Easter weekend and I have been having a think about what we can do over the next few days. I love Easter as the weather is almost always getting warmer and this year, Emma seems to understand a little bit more. It’s great to have those extra two days to spend together and so I’ve gathered our top 10 activities around Sussex this Easter. As always in Brighton, there is lots to do so I can’t imagine we’ll pack all of this in, but a little bit of inspiration to try something new.
Let’s kick off with our Top 5 Easter-themed events:
Easter Egg Hunts
There’s nothing the kids love more than an Easter Egg Hunt and I was so amazed to see how many there are around Brighton, and all over Sussex too! The stand out event is the Preston Park Egg Hunt on Sunday 16th April at 11am – 2.30pm. The cost to take part is £1 per child and there is face painting and chocolatey prizes galore.
National Trust Easter Events
I’ve been enjoying visiting local National Trust sites lately and I wasn’t surprised to hear that there are some fantastic Easter themed events in the area. In particular, Sheffield Park, Devil’s Dyke and Petworth House (a little further afield but well worth the journey) all have Easter egg hunts planned for the weekend.
Preston Manor, near Preston Park
Quite close to home is Preston Manor, an Edwardian House and they are hosting an Edwardian Easter Day which sounds like something a bit different to do!
Boutique Children’s Disco
This event sounds brilliant – it’s a little disco with the babies and toddlers in mind, taking place on Easter Monday. The disco takes place at Boutique Bar from 2pm-4pm and tickets are £5 for adults with a glass of bubbly on entry and free for children.
Easter Crafts and Trail at Redoubt Fortress, Eastbourne
I love the sound of this craft trail – a little different to the other Easter Egg Hunts in the city. It takes place over in Eastbourne and as well as hunting down chocolate eggs in the fortress, the children have crafts to make along the way too. It’s open from 10am-6pm until Easter Sunday; adults’ entry costs £4.50 and children £2.50 each.
And five other activities we love doing in Sussex. . .
The Lavender Line, Uckfield – a steam railway along the beautiful Lavender Line
Washbrooks Farm, Hurstpierpoint – one of our favourite farms to visit with a brilliant tractor ride
Bluebell Railway, next to Sheffield Park – another favourite steam railway next to Sheffield Park, always a hit!
Drusilla’s Park – we love visiting Drusilla’s; they have plenty of Easter activities on too, so would be a fun-filled day
Arundel Castle – I really love visiting Arundel, such a pretty town and the castle is always great fun
Happy Easter everyone, hope you have a wonderful weekend!
