VLOG: Weekends By The Seaside

I love this time of year in Brighton because there always seems to be something to do. So last Saturday, we decided to go to Hove for the Paddle Round The Pier mini festival. As it happens, we also went semi-impromptu last year and really enjoyed it, though Emma was much younger then and it was very hot so we didn’t stay for long. This year, with our toddling toddler – different story altogether!

Paddle Round The Pier is a Brighton Beach charity event celebrating all water-based sports, started in 1996 by a group of surfers. I was so disappointed my stepson wasn’t with us as he would have loved the surf lifesaving competition, kayaking and big beach sandpit. They even had Stand Up Paddling on the water, which is something I’ve always wanted to try. I have a feeling my non-existent stomach muscles would play against me though and I’d probably capsize! There were also lots of food stands so our lunch was sorted in an instant with food from my favourite Brighton restaurants – Dead Good Burrito, Siam Siam for Thai and the Big Beach Cafe for the best BBQ and burgers you have ever seen.

Weekends for us are all about spending lots of time together and now that the sun is out – beach time is always on the agenda. Emma really loves watching the waves and playing with the stones, which is so lovely to watch. She was in her element toddling around everywhere and gets such a kick out of her newfound mobility. We had such a brilliant time at the festival, although it was the windiest it’s been in a while, so we arrived home with knotty hair and absolutely exhausted! Time for a group nap 😉 I also recorded a vlog of our day there and I hope you enjoy it.
