Sun & Smiles at the Park

Spring is my favourite time of year – when the sun comes out and everything seems that little bit brighter. It’s been my first winter with a baby and to be completely honest I’ve felt a bit restricted in what we can do each day. Ordinarily I love going for walks, especially as we live by the sea, but there was a few weeks in January where every time we would go out in the buggy, even rugged up with snowsuits and woolly hats, Emma would catch a cold and would struggle to sleep and go off her food too (something I’m always keen to avoid!).

So the appearance of the sun has made my soul sing and yesterday was the perfect day to go out to the park. We met up with a mummy friend of mine whom I met when I moved to Brighton; I didn’t really know anyone when I arrived and it’s been so lovely to meet someone like-minded. The girls also love seeing each other and are becoming best buds each time we meet up.

There were a few things that made me really happy – seeing Emma watch the older kids play and watching her size it all up. Also seeing her really enjoy the lying down swing – I first took her to the swings at 6 months old and looking back she wasn’t quite ready for it; she’s actually only just started crawling properly so that makes sense now!

Afterwards came my final triumph of the day, as Emma ate her dinner in the cafe with no fuss at all…the first time ever! Sometimes it feels like I’m always rushing home so she can eat in the house. Because that’s what it’s about with these long days – it’s the small improvements that show you that we’re doing good, even if tomorrow’s is a different and unpredictable story.

Thank you very much – it’s so lovely to have someone to chat to and go with the babies, funny how isolating it can be with a young baby. Thanks for commenting on my post 🙂 Bridget x

Oh, I can totally relate to the ‘baby steps’!! It’s the small things that bring the biggest triumphs! I always used to rush home so that mine could eat at home, and now we are at a stage where they can both eat out, and its a huge win for me! I know what you mean about winter too-I had my first baby the week before Christmas, and a couple of weeks later, it snowed for about 3 weeks. I was so desperate to leave the house! Even after the snow went, it was far too cold for a newborn to be out for too long. This winter has been an awful washout! We have been enjoying lots of park visits and outdoor play in this better weather!
I’m glad you have some like minded mum friends, and you have such a gorgeous little one there!!
Thank you so much for sharing with #bigpinklink, I look forward to seeing more of your posts!
